Rhea Quotes:
The essential joy of being with horses is that it brings us
in contact with the rare elements of grace, beauty, spirit, and fire. ~Sharon Ralls Lemon
I found one way to fly; On the back of an airborne horse! ~Sarah
Z.
Ask me to show you poetry in motion, and I will show you a
horse
A horse is like a violin. First it must be tuned,
and when tuned, it must be accurately played.
"Where in the world is nobility found without conceit? Where
is there friendship without envy? Where is there beauty without vanity? Here one finds gracefulness coupled with power, and
strength tempered with gentleness." ~ Isenbart
Sometime he trots, as if he told the steps with gentle
magesty and pride. Anon, he rears upright, curvets and leaps, as who should say 'Lo, thus my strength is tried' --Shakespeare
"Venus and Adonis"
Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close
to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence
dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...
"I am as docile as I am courageous, the only of earth's
creatures who sacrifices his own being to exist through the will of another."
I saw a child who couldn't walk, sit on
a horse and laugh and talk.....I saw a child who could only crawl, mount a horse and sit up tall.....I saw a child born into
strife, take up and hold the reins of life....And that same child was heard to say, thank you God for showing me the way.
-John Anthony Davis
A Dog looks up to a man, a cat looks down on
a man, but a patient horse looks a man in the eye and sees him as an equal.
"Somewhere...Somewhere in time's Own Space There must be some sweet pastured place Where
creeks sing on and tall trees grow Some Paradise where horses go, For by the love that guides my pen I know great
horses live again." ~Stanley Harrison

Rhea (Oakbriar Lacy) was
purchased in Sept 2008 from Rene Wade (Oakbriar Hackney Park) in Camas WA. She was purchased to be my future show jumper,
but since then she has grown to become a member of our little family. She is a very affectionate, goofy girl who loves
to play and investigate objects with her new family.
Rheas's bloodlines include
a whos who in the Hackney world and it shows in her quality, athletism, and intelligence. Like any proper Hackney Horse Rhea
is an affectionate and sound filly.
The name Rhea is the name of
the Roman Goddess who protected Rome and therefore (at the time) civilization, since Kira believes herself to be royalty and
evidently more civilized then most with Kira representing Rome it can be said then Rhea is Kira's protector also for later
in life (there is nearly a decade difference between their ages).
Other meanings:
Greek: mother of the gods,
A Titan and means flowing
Hindu: Sucessful
British: River
Roman myths: mother of Romulus
and Remus
I will be updating this page
on her progress.
